The performance footwear industry faces a stark reality: traditional manufacturing processes generate vast amounts of waste, emissions, and pollution. In 2025, the global running shoe market is valued at over $80 billion, yet an estimated 300 million pairs of shoes are discarded annually, many ending up in landfills where they take centuries to decompose.
